Wie einige Kirchen aud der Umgebung hatte das Gotteshaus in Oberhofen eine wichtige relogiöse und
wirtschaftliche Rolle als Stützpunkt des Klosters von Mondsee.
Der gotische Kirchenbau aus der 1. Hälfte des 15. Jahrhunderts ist mit Ausnahme der Turmes im
Wesentlichen unverändert geblieben. Von der alten gotischen Einrichtung hat sich ein Tafelbild aus der
Zeit um 1500 erhalten, auf dem die 14 Nothelfer dagestellt sind, denen die Kirche geweiht ist.
Die drei Altäre und die Kanzel stammen aus einer Zeit, in der der spätbarocke Klosterbildhauer
Meinrad Guggenbichler für die Kirche tätig war und zählen zu den bedeutendsten Werken des Künstlers.

Naturschutzgebiet Irrseemoor - Nordmoor
Die Moore am Nord-, Ost- und Südufer des Irrsees werden zum Naturschutzgebiet "Irrsee-Moore" zusammen
gefasst. Seltene Habiate, außergewöhnliche Pflanzen, Tiere und bedrohte Feuchtgebiete stehen unter Schutz.
Der Erhalt von Lebensräumen bzw. Biotopen ist unerlässlich.
Artenschutz für gefährdete Vogelarten wie zum Beispiel den Brachvogel. (auch im Gemeindewappen abgebildet)
Der große Brachvogel, österreichweit vom Aussterben bedroht, brütet in komplexen, extensiv genutzten
Streuwiesenkomplexen mit hohem Grundwasserspiegel, die möglichst offen und gut überschaubar sein sollen.
